O American Music Awards foi ao ar ao vivo no Microsoft Theatre em Los Angeles na noite deste domingo (21). Apresentado por Cardi B, a premiação repleta de estrelas apresentou performances de BTS com Coldplay, Olivia Rodrigo, Tyler the Creator, Måneskin, Walker Hayes, Mickey Guyton, Bad Bunny, Tainy com Julieta Venegas, Carrie Underwood com Jason Aldean, Kane Brown, Nova edição e novas crianças no bloco. Diplo estava de plantão para a cerimônia.

Olivia Rodrigo e The Weeknd lideraram as indicações com sete e seis acenos, respectivamente. Bad Bunny, Doja Cat e Giveon receberam cinco indicações cada. Os vencedores foram votados pelos fãs, com novas categorias neste ano, incluindo música de tendência favorita, artista gospel favorito e duo ou grupo latino favorito.
O grupo BTS levou para casa o prêmio de artista de prestígio do ano, bem como dupla ou grupo pop favorito e música pop favorita para “Butter“. Megan Thee Stallion também recebeu três vitórias, como canção de tendência favorita por “Body“, artista feminina de hip-hop e álbum de hip-hop por “Good News“. Doja Cat teve a mesma quantidade de homenagens, ganhando a colaboração do ano para “Kiss Me More” com SZA, bem como a artista feminina favorita de R&B e álbum de R&B para “Planet Her“. Rodrigo, por sua vez, ganhou novo artista do ano.
